“Walrus in the Sky”
By Ryan Stockton
The walrus in the sky looked down
And what do you think he saw?
A rooster swimming in the sea
He thought it rather odd
Roosters don’t belong with the fish,
Swimming by and by
This is what the walrus thought
While floating through the sky
Heather Ivins is an artist and graphic designer with an immense appreciation for nature and a sense of humor about life. While she enjoys working in a variety of media, she has recently focused on portraits of animals rendered in colored pencil. She welcomes commissions for pet portraits and other projects via her website, heatherivins.com.
“Ridging the Arts” is a monthly feature pairing the work of local writers with that of local visual artists. Hear writers read their work, and meet local artists and art-lovers, on the last Sunday of every month at the Bay Ridge Poets Society open mic, at the Owl’s Head Wine Bar (479 74th Street). The next reading is July 26 at 7pm (ish).
